The Faculty of Architecture incorporates the Departments of Architecture and Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, which are two specialized fields within the broad range of design disciplines. Design is a widely used and generously consumed term which is generally associated with creativity. In its everyday use, creativity means “to produce something out of nothing” or “to produce something that has never been seen before.” Yet the original Latin meaning of the term to create (creatus), did not imply a divine act, but meant “to make something grow.” Hence creativity does not presuppose a blank page but a set of given elements to enable growth. The process of growth involves an assemblage of elements that feed each other to mobilize transformation. This second meaning of the term well summarizes our Faculty’s interdisciplinary and integral approach to education.
