The Faculty of Architecture encompasses the Department of Architecture and the Department of Interior Architecture & Environmental Design – two kindred disciplines within the subject of design. These Departments aim to educate competent and visionary professionals well equipped to create projects that will shape the built environment of the future, as well as their field. Aligned with this aim, our philosophy of education is grounded in developing our students’ eagerness to learn and to teach them how to learn. Our curriculum has the critical content to educate socially responsible graduates who are in command of national and global agenda for architecture and design. Students are expected to follow technological developments closely and are competent in using digital media. The studio education is at the core of our curriculum and aims for raising creative designers who are able to critically examine challenges they encounter. Projects in the studios support design ideas, which are intellectually demanding and encourage students to question our built environment. Our faculty value developing creative and innovative perspectives that is needed for finding solutions to current global and complex issues such as rapid urbanization, sustainability, and the notion of design for all.
Our education staff is committed to driving critical and liberating thinking forwards. Academicians are expected to conduct research in their field of interest and generate original knowledge whilst educating individuals who will be able to make a difference in the built environment. We believe that this kind of productivity creates the greatest potential for effective information transfer, thus enriching the academic environment.
Our academic setting is further enhanced through invited guest speakers spanning the disciplines of architecture, interior architecture and related fields, as well as further activities such as workshops and exhibitions. These programs offer an excellent medium for intellectual interaction and the exchange of ideas. In addition to providing a more holistic view for our academicians in terms of interdisciplinary collaboration, we are also able to raise awareness about the interdisciplinary nature of the disciplines among our graduate and undergraduate students. Moreover, these programs cultivate self-awareness while emphasizing the importance of working with a team. Within this framework, we aim to enable alumni to succeed in their professions, globally.
